Tokyo Pt 2: PEOPLE

IMG_4842.jpg

During my time in Tokyo some of the greatest things that stood out to me were the residents... Maybe not even residents but the people in and around Tokyo truly made the experience of travelling there whole.

"The people of Tokyo make Tokyo"

When walking through the streets I couldn't help but notice the wide array of different people living their lives. Tokyo is one of the busiest places I have been (maybe HK is busier at times, but they are both up there on the list) but everyone moves with a sense of purpose.

I find Tokyo to be one of the most pleasurable places to just walk and wander. I hope you enjoy some of these photos taken on the street.  (Special photo contributions by Justin)

I didn't know what it was but it's quite elegant.

In Asakusa we stumbled upon a large festival we had no idea was going on.

We were very fortunate we caught the occasion. I later found out this was the Sanja Matsuri (三社祭). One of the 3 great Shinto Festivals in Tokyo.

I love the look of the father and son in this photograph. A very accomplished look.

I find festivals like this really strengthen the idea of tradition and culture in the fast pace world we live in today.

Bikes are a very popular form of transportation. Dedicated bike lanes split the sidewalks. I had to really watch out or else i'd run into bikers.

There was a solar eclipse happening on our way to Tsukiji. Everyone stopped what they were doing to take in the sight.

The workers at Tsukiji are masters at driving these transport vehicles around. They also don't stop for nobody.

When the weekend came, you knew it was the weekend. The city is even more lively and there are events going on all around town.

Yoyogi park is bustling with activity on a Sunday. Rockers come out to dance. Families come out to picnic and musicians come out to play.

There is a lot to see. Many performers and artists come out to the park on a sunny weekend. (Photo by Justin)

There were a lot of musicians all around the park, just doing what they love. That's dedication when you bring out an instrument of that size. (Photo by Justin)

Akihabara (秋葉原). A location very popular to those who love anime, manga and video games. Many maids will try to get you to go to their maid cafe.

Well that about does it for my blog posts on Tokyo. It was a great experience and getaway for myself. I would highly recommend any of my friends to go and just observe and experience such a different place.

Special thanks to Justin for letting me use some pics for my post! He lugged around a big DSLR and it paid off with some beautiful shots.

I hope you all enjoyed the photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them.
